World Ice Skating Day
World Ice Skating Day (WISD) is synonymous to fun and festivities. It is one day dedicated to celebrating Ice skating across the world in the form of a global ice-skating festival.
Depending on the type of WISD planned by your local rink, first time skaters will be provided with free coaching sessions, skill development and injury prevention sessions for intermediate skaters, along with free skating for the whole family. All this in the company of food and refreshments, topped by a skating exhibition of the best skaters from your region.
Be it first time skaters, professional athletes, or families looking to spend quality time together at their local ice rink/federation, there is something for everyone at WISD. Depending on the type of WISD planned by your local rink, first time Skaters will be provided with free coaching sessions, skills development and injury prevention sessions for intermediate skaters, along with free skating for the whole family in the company of food and refreshments and topped by a skating exhibition of the best skaters from your region.
International Skating Union (ISU), founded in 1892, is the oldest governing international sport federation recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC). ISU administers the sport of ice skating and all its branches - Long track & Short track Speed Skating, Single & Pair Skating and Synchronized Skating.
It is composed of members spread in 78 countries across 5 continents who administer the four disciplines at the national level under the jurisdiction of ISU.
In a digital era of screens and virtual reality, ISU aims to bring sports back into the lives of children as well as adults through WISD. The governing body also provides the rights to potential event organizers looking to host/organize a World Ice Skating Day event in their countries.
A Festival Of Celebration
At WISD, we have created an ecosystem that encourages and creates a healthy space for young talent to bloom.
We celebrate diversity, inclusion, togetherness and festivity with an aim to make Ice Skating more accessible for everyone. We ensure a fun and uniting event as there are no winners or losers on the ice rink! We also encourage young talent and aim at making the festival a potential stepping stone for young skaters to represent themselves and their counties in ISU events.
Our core values ensure WISD to be a memorable experience for all:
Convivial
Sharing the joy of learning at one fun festival across the globe.
All-Embracing
We hope to connect the world, one ice rink at a time.
Fair
A level playing field of learning for everyone, everywhere.
Spirit Of Sport
There are no winners or losers. It’s just you, your happiness, and the ice.
